Rosy-fingered dawn

From not so long ago, about the 21st October.  There are still a lot of flowers, no frost yet, but so much of the lovely autumn colour is being washed away by the rain.

I've always felt the rain added to the depth of color, like stones on the beach are always so much prettier than after they dry out in pockets.

It's raining here today. As I drove to and from my destination, I found myself saying goodbye to the leaves, sad that they have to go, but still so piercingly beautiful in their later days. It is a really amazing thing that the trees do this, and that we are equipped to perceive such intense beauty.

My beloved piano teacher/friend/mother figure long ago talked to me about how the autumn leaves are like the way we will be in the next life. Our true colors showing, with the Light shining through and around us, emptied of the "chlorophyll" of earthly-ness. She is nearing that time now, making each autumn even more poignant as I look at the leaves and remember that conversation over twenty years ago, and our conversation of this week about her nearing death.

Beautiful photos. It's amazing how some of them look tropical too (the second and third one).
