Not again, says Molly, and so say all of us. Yet another bout of ear-related abscess, and further intervention, rounded off the general mood of vague and unjustified despondency, for which it certainly provided a focus. I hesitate even to report on this, it's became such a sad and repetitive tale of woe, yet between whiles she's so chirpy and well. The vet says the small op today should be the last, and, hopefully, it won't happen again. Let's hope he's right. At least she getting it out of the way before I'm due to be away for a week next month; this dressing stays on for ten days, the pills will be for a while longer. Tom says she looks like she's just come back from the front. So far, no need for a plastic bucket collar. Did you know they're called e-collars because they're Elizabethan collars? I suppose like the ruffs in the portraits by Hilliard and the like.
Needless to say, she's still enjoying her food.
We took her in on Tuesday, reckoning to have to spend the afternoon on it and miss the Inauguration on the telly, but she'd eaten some breakfast, and he said he wouldn't risk it, gave a an effective shot of pain killer, and told us to come back the next day. So we were able to come home, have a cheerful walk around the plan d'eau, and all snuggle down to watch, which was nice.
Anyway, as promised, a sample from the archives. I have decided to call this series Saved Nuts, from a comment Rosie left last time. This one is by popular request from the ever witty and gallant Barrett Bonden, who delights in any wry account of French living , having done his share of this. It's 'The déchèterie, and other waste matters' . I've tidied it up a bit, but not cut much really.
There, told you I wouldn't stay away for long...

Aw no..Mol ill. When shall we four meet again? Not in thunder and lightening but probably in rain...eventually. Hope she is better soonxxxxxxxx
Poor Molly! and poor you, too.
Being unwell is so disheartening.
One of my friends says that he is annoyed by the constant reference to Obama's urging to "pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off (and start all over again)," but sometimes that is all we can do.
Poor Molly, hope she feels better soon.
Poor doggy. Good she has you to take care of her.
As for your link, heh, I am writing a post about toilets.
Ow! The dog is down. But not out. Hope the op works.
awww...so sorry. Hope this is the last bout with nasty ear problems for dear ol' Molly.
Oh dear! I am so sorry to hear that Molly is ill. The picture makes me smile, I am afraid, because she looks so like Poppy who has an infallible way of communicating despair.
Dearst Moll,
Get well soon
Love Bryn
Lucy, I remmeber that post of yours about septics....it brought all of hassles with ours flooding back (the last two words of this sentence are v. appropriate!)
No more jumping overboard scares, please, Lucy.
Loved the account of how the Bretons dispose. When my parents lived in the Var, les fosses septiques were cleared by piratical crews riding the hills in pink tankers called Panthers Roses. Bafflingly, they loved their work with the passion of artisans and enjoyed a sort of aristocratie des ouvriers, ensuring them free beers at the bars as they toured the town.
Get Well Soon, Miss Molly!!
Sending lots of get-well pats for sweet Molly. Dipping into your past posts is going to be fun for me.
My best wishes to Molly but I hope she's not put out if I quietly urge anyone who has not done so to read the earlier post about la déchèterie. Such a pretty French word, that. In translates as the dump. But Lucy doesn't write about ugly, unromantic things like that; think of the sunsets and all. In fact, Lucy is a hard-nosed blogger whose over-flowing comments bag proves an important point. Why should anyone ever write anything? To be read, what else? And how does one ensure that? If I knew the answer I'd be writing a post myself instead of celebrating someone who does.
I hope you're both feeling much better today.

Poor little Molly. Ear problems have to hurt like crazy. Edward and I wish her to feel better and we'll say a prayer for just that!!
Thanks all, and from Molly too.
One of the wortst things is she came back from the vet smelling dreadfully of cats! Not sure why; it seemed to be the morning for the separating of cats from their gonads, so perhaps one of them nearby decided to register a protest, or else there had been one in the cage she was in, or perhaps one of the many surgery cats decided to wander by and contemptuously pee on her! Whatever, it seemed to be rather adding insult to injury. No possibility of bathing her in her current state, but I'm having to wash everything she's been coming into contact with. Poor Mol. Anyway she's had a walk today, and is keeping quite chirpy.
Dick - no serious intention of jumping overboard, and really wasn't seeking attention by seeming to threaten to, just a little lacking in oomph is all.
BB - truthfully, one's comments haul says more about the quality of one's readers than one's writing, I think, or perhaps one's sociability/neediness as a blogger (or possibly one's ability to provoke a fight but that doesn't apply here). Mine is not enormous by some standards but perfect as far as I'm concerned; I treasure them all, of course.
Poor Moll, let's hope this will be her last trouble.
An interesting visit as always.
Hi Lucy,
I have taken the liberty of presenting you with The Lemonade Award. I hope this chimes happily with you and that you will feel able to accept it. Details on my blog Here
My thanks to you for all the pleasure your blog has given me to date.
Dave
Aww poor Molly.
I rather like those e-collars. When our cat had one she would only walk backwards - she seemed to think she could walk out of it if she did that. It was rather funny to watch.
