Liquid amber

I thought the sun was waiting for me
at the top of the road.  But when I got there
it was already in a clinch
with an autumn-coloured garden tree.
I caught them in flagrante, glowing
with each other's touch.  Liquid amber.
Shameless.

The photos were this morning, our liquidamber (sweet gum) tree in the garden, the poem was this afternoon, and it was another tree. I just cut and shut the two events together.

I'm glad I posted my autumn photos before seeing yours since mine (taken on my phone) are rubbish!

Yours zing.

I have a soft spot for maples. And all that is mapley.

oh i envy you your glowing reds. here, in western canada, all we get is gold and yellow and the merest hint of red here and there. and sadly, by now it is almost all gone.

Oh wow! Beautiful combination or words and images.

Liquid amber was my father's favourite tree.

So beautiful - the words and the photos, especially No. 5.

The poem really captures the sense of breathless disbelief and rapture in Autumn.
