Spaniel eyes

At Catalyst's request, some pictures of the newly shorn Molly.

A dog of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
Woof woof! Just kidding!

(Tom thinks it really is too short, says he likes his girls with rather more hair, and it's true the ears in particular are a bit drastic. But for the sake of a clean-up, and that she didn't look too lopsided with one shaved from the op and the other not, it's a good move. The look of melancholy pathos is a breed trait, and one which has been perfected to a fine art!)

She does "melancholy pathos" so very well!

Yes, she does, but she's a lovely dog. I'm sure she's happy to be rid of that "thing" around her neck.

Ok, I have to confess that spaniels are *not* my top favourite breed of dog. But judging by these pictures I'd be able to make an exception in Molly's case.

:-)

Such sweet sadness in a lampshade.

Speaking as one who is applying the ear drops at the moment, my thoughts are with you. The vet tells me that it is the effect of the constant humidity in Brittany. The menace of the bucket hangs over us all...

Thanks all on Molly's behalf for your kind concern. She really is a very asked-after dog.
Catalyst - yes it should be off in a week or so, and by then the hair will have grown back a bit, so I'll do an update then. One of the problems with it is she doesn't walk as much, since her habitual gait is nose to the ground she shovels up half the countryside into the bucket, and is continually falling over it, so she'll be glad to be out and about more, as will I.

Rachel, Tom says he doesn't think she even looks like a spaniel at the moment with her coat all cropped and her ears shaved, more like any old mongrel. Indeed if one is a feisty terrier person she probably wouldn't be your cup of tea. She does have just about every breed fault going: ears, eyes, skin, nerves, obsessive whining clinginess... but we love her withal, and spaniellish devotion is very gratifying to our human vanity. The advantage is that we seldom have to worry about her running off, chasing after other dogs or wanting to have sex with them( her only sexual interest in life seems to be in the towel used to dry her feet, God knows why), disappearing to eat disgusting things in the bushes,or generally showing much interest in anything apart from us and the car, and now chocolate covered antibiotics.

Oh, what a cutie. The collar really sets off her face beautifully! How can you resist those eyes?

That expression in the last picture is very familiar to me; our younger dog often gets that look when she wants something :)

Molly is a sweetie. Glad she will be better soon.
BTW I also love Tom's interesting looking jumper- did you knit that?

Yes, she really is getting better all the time; the combin ation of the neat and comfortable haircut and being free of infections is making her very merry and lively, even still with the bucket!
No, I'm afraid my knitting skills don't extend to anythin ascomplex as the jumper, Meggie, it's an Irish one!
