Thank you.

Brightening up an otherwise chilly Melbourne (winter) day.

Just the name alone conjures up lovely flowers, doesn't it?
Marguerites.
I knew a girl called Marguerite who had red hair and green eyes and always wore red.
Quite a combination!

Lovely daisies. Here they're being used to add bio diversity to the roadside margins. I like the ones with the slightly shaggy appearance, their name escapes me for the present.

I feel for you re the maize it does grow to monster proportions.
About forty yearts ago my sister dated a French student and brought him home to dinner. My Mum served sweet corn as one of the many veggies with the meal and the guy leapt to his feet and said, "In France we do not eat maize - it is for pigs!"

My poor Mum was mortified. And the saying entered our family's long list of daft sayings

Oh those wonderful happy daisies are so pretty amidst our storms & rain!

I used to drink Margaritas but what do they have to do with daisies?

Oh. Marguerites. Never mind.

Thank you.
Lee and Meggie - odd to think of you antipodeans languishing in winter.
Jan - your Marguerite sounds a stunner! In fact they go quite well with red and green, flowering as they do amongst the sorrel and long grass.
Apprentice - I've heard that one before about sweetcorn... no one's ever been quite that rude to us, but we do get the shrug (epithet unnecessary) about sweetcorn and parsnips, even though they aren't completely unknown or unavailable.
Catalyst - that was presumably when you were researching the effects of tequila on the American male?
