Dear hearts,
Just a quick word; much improvement over 24 hours, and he should be altogether de-tubed tomorrow morning, and out on Thursday. He's still struggling to eat much, but I smuggled up hot chocolate and a small coconut cake, he ate them with enjoyment and we told the nurses and doctor after, who were cool about it. Unfortunately I can't smuggle Molly up likewise.
As I am nearly into my 18th waking hour of today, about 12 of them spent away from home, I shall resist the temptation to blather, even about the puffins on Skoma I just watched on the telly, which made me think of a beautiful afternoon on Staffa 14 years ago, which made me think of other boat trips: gannets on the Sept Iles, Molly getting her pieds de marin on the way to the Glenan, and humpback whales out of Sydney harbour.
I shall leave you with a double exposure of Princeling in a water lily, which I made yesterday in a rather impromptu and hasty fashion, and it made me laugh so I sent it to his mum, and it still amuses so I'm putting it here.
Much love, many thanks.

How You Are
I found you peering
Out of the heart of my life,
Out of the flower
Found there, pink and white.
I, beyond myself with love,
With you seeing me -
You claim your wide eyes
Belong to all in this world.
That's just how you are.
Oh, what a lovely poem! Brought tears to my eyes.
Glad Tom is picking up. I'm behind with blogreading - see this work thing one has to waste one's life on? - but have enjoyed catching up on your posts.
Sorry - that was just me deleting my comment, which I managed to post twice.
Appreciate the update - hope the progress continues, trouble free.

Pretty illustrious company.
(Great picture, too, Lucy)
I'm glad to hear all is going well. I love the photo.
I've heard of hospitals allowing the occasional clean, well behaved, animal in to visit. Worth asking anyway. Molly would love to see him, very healing for him too.
Glad to hear good news about Tom...and I absolutely love the picture. Do you take double exposure on a digital? How does that work?
Great news about Tom! And a delightful photo (and poem by Christopher!).
Thank you for the most encouraging update. I'm so glad to hear that Tom is soon to move back home.
hurray...home soon
Good, good, good.
cute photo. Glad Tom continues to recover
What wonderful news! And the poem for you!
The photo is just gorgeous... who could not smile, & laugh out loud!
Thanks all.
Christopher is an abundant well of sweet soulfulness. He has his own, you know, so go visit, but is impulsively generous in giving his poems away too. He's new to this lark, but long may his bounty continue.
Lovely to hear from all of you.
Wonderful photomontage! Makes me just smile and smile.
I'm so glad Tom is starting to feel better. Remarkable that he can eat at all so soon, isn't it? Both modern surgical techniques and the body's capacity to heal and adapt are amazing.

Excellent news. It must be a great relief. These times are always times out of real life, when everything else slips out of focus for a while. You are so good to take the time to update people here.
Remember to take care of yourself as well.
that photo is rather mesmerising.
Oh, that is an image to die for, that is fantastic. I cannot quite get over it. Congrats a thousand times over!
And now to another matter:
Some days (weeks?) ago I was tagged from that very delightful blog AcornMoon to provide seven facts about myself (unusual ones if possible, I think it said - absolutely impossible, of course!). Having done which, I was then to tag seven others to do likewise, and finally to leave a message with each to let them know they had been tagged.
The first part of the challenge will be discharged on my blog with a post scheduled for tomorrow.
You willhave guessed by now that you are one of my choices for Part 2. Please regard it as a suggestion only - I would not like anyone to feel compelled in any way to pick it up, but if you feel able and willing, please go to my blog any time from tomorrow (Thursday) onwards for the full details, post your seven revelations abut yourself on your own blog, then choose another seven blogs and pass the challenge on. Good luck!
Grand news!
What a gorgeous 'Flower Fairy'you have created there.
Actually, Lucy, I am not impulsive about this - I do these poems like the one here quickly while working as a small mental break from the other work I do as an industrial designer. That is what they are for. And I rely on the input of your creativity (and others) in order to get fresh thoughts. So it is only fair the (sometimes almost) finished products appear where they come from. I didn't think of giving them away so much as sharing.
There is a fine article written in the Vancouver BC paper recently by a poet who points out that poesy is an addiction rather than a useful endeavor because the readership is so small. He writes tongue in cheek to be amusing but his point is true enough. So I doubt that there is much risk to me. Perhaps I am in error here but I don't conceive of these poems I write as hugely valuable, worth protecting. They are more valuable in the sharing perhaps.
On the radio this morning, the Talllis Scholars singing Spem in Alium. Thought of you and sent lots of spem for Tom's good recovery
I tried to leave a comment before, but something (computer or Blogger) was playing up. MUST COMMENT now, although a bit tardily, how wonderfully otherworldly that picture of Princeling is. I think that you could have quite a lucrative career out of making those from various angel faces.
