Lovely light, lovely waterlillies. Love the heart-shaped rolled leaf-edge.

Yes, as TG said! And the delicate veins in that first leaf!

Very rich, dense.

Wow. Great photos.

Rain drops on leaves. Sunlight through petals. Things to delight in.

I love the rolled leaf one in particular. I love lily pads, like wee worlds all of their own.

Stunningly beautiful, as are the photos and everything about your new joint project with Joe Hyam. And the new template here sets off the pictures wonderfully. I hope you are excited about the way your work is developing here.

Thank you.
The water lily leaves were madly overcrowded, smothering their own flowers, the fish and tadpoles ( the froglet in the picture is, I think, a precocious one), and needed drastic thinning, a regular necessity at this time. The pond looks very sad and bedraggled afterwards, but they very soon rally.
However, when they are all on top of themselves like this, they do make some interesting shapes. The flower in the glass I pulled out by accident, but in fact waterlilies should be brought into the house and enjoyed sometimes, they don't last very long, but are rather special. Yes, they are dense, fleshy things!
Yes Jean, I am excited about all this, not overblowing myself I hope, just sheer enjoyment, and appreciation of other people I find here, and the encouragement and opportunities they are giving me. And my new pale green template gives me great pleasure whenever I see it!

What a gorgeous set of photographs!!
a true feast! Not "overblowing" at all, in my opinion.

by the way, you might be interested in something that has just come to my attention via a colleague. It's a new photo album/slideshow thing for web sites and blogs. i like it because it is so much cleaner than Flickr...just a simple way to view photograph collections when they get rather big. i may decide to use it instead of Typepad's regular album pages. You can learn about it at www.bananalbum.net

Thanks Zephyr, and the album sounds potentially interesting...

"Nenuphar".
How one word can immediately dig out a line of verse, not read for some 45 years!

"As a reeling pirate bee in fluttering ease
Steals up the honey from the nenuphar".

I just had to dig out the vast poem (copied down in youth on 7 sheets of foolscap paper).

"Black Marigolds" a free interpretation of the Chaurapanchasika by E. Powys Mathers.

Thanks for shining a light into a far, dark corner of memory.

Avus - that's great, I love it when that kind of thing happens!
I shall look up the poem; I had never heard it used in English as far as I remember, but alwyas like the word; that for dragonfly, libellule, seems to go well with it.

Lucy, all these are superb but I particularly like the very first....
the veiny shapes, the rain drops...gives the impression of a window in a church.
Beautiful.

Ah, gorgeous things seen and shared...my fave bit has got to be that Tiny Frog, though. What a wonder!

It's always exciting to see a water lily in bloom, but to find a little frog on one! Perfection.
