Intermission

Our accommodation situation having resolved itself fairly satisfactorily, on the whole, we now no longer have to move into the studio flat with no garden, plate glass windows and little ventilation, for which, given the current heat wave, we are mighty glad. We are now in the second home of friends of a friend until the end of August, and will go back into the nice gîte in Plémy for the month of September.

Our current abode is very agreeable, cool, spacious, well appointed, with tv, but no internet, and for this we must make other arrangements, using friends' or a local library (the admirable 'cybercommunes' networks), and given that this is limited access, and e-mails, often official to do with resolving post-fire matters, taking priority, I fear I must put blogging on hold for the next six weeks or so. I'll try to look in at other people's blogs, perhaps get back into the habit of carrying a camera and scribbling by hand, whatever, it won't be so bad.

Interesting times. Bye for now.

I am glad that Tom and you, at least, have comfortable lodgings, Lucy. With no immediate internet and the troubles you have encountered and are dealing with, it is very understandable that we shan't be hearing from you for a bit.
I am very sure that the thoughts of all your blog friends (and I include me in that) will be with you.

Six weeks! Holy Moly! Of course I could send you a real letter and envisage it falling through the ravaged letter-slot on to the ashes in the hallway. But no, you must have a postbox in the village as I did, and which I visited out of the faintest of faint hopes, expecting only an accumulation of dampish free sheets and nothing more. Once, I think there was a bill and I was thrilled. Yes, I must dwell on a letter, a heroic one, worthy of inclusion when someone writes your biography.

Full of obscure quotes, of course. No, better than that: quotes in Greek. Surely the biggest literary turn-off known to man. Better still: a transliteration of, say, Persil washes whitest in gammas, omegas and deltas.

Just bought eight banana plugs. A tiny prize if you can guess what for without turning to Google.

Thanks friends.

Robbie - don't fret! While a letter would be lovely you can still e-mail, I'll pick it up and can work off-line on Gmail I think, if I work out how. Banana plugs, hmm, I don't usually let my bananas get to the state where they are leaking, if they do they go for compost.

Julia - that's incredibly kind of you, and I must say we were tempted for a time, but really we do have to be close to the house and to come and go most days; Guingamp would have been just too far I think to be practical, and the situation now is much more satisfactory then we feared it was going to be. But thank you so much again, we are much blessed with such kind people looking out for us!

My god! You must find other accomodations (is that spelled right, it doesn't look right, oh well) because I can't do without either of you for that long.

Whatever. Be well. And be happy.

Hope things are progressing well. I doubt if you're really ghosts. Hope not, anyway.
