Playing with light - Mont St Michel

Tom took some of these, the 3rd to the 6th I think. He used the camera sometimes because he grew fed up with the automatic flash on his, which we haven't discovered how to turn off. I did the playing about with them. 'Jouer avec la lumière' said Jean, so I did.

Nice to be back, plenty of material to work through. Be seeing you...

I am raising a Pumpkin Ale to your safe and happy return as I type. Magnificent new header photo! As I scrolled to the right and saw the little girl running, my breath caught. Lucy, glad you and Tom and Molly are back.

I don't have a Pumpkin Ale, but glad you're back!

These are beautiful.

May I have permission to use them as my "wallpaper," though that seems almost a demeaning term for such loveliness. I think of it as the focal point for my environment, more a window than wallpaper.

This seems to be your (perhaps I should say your family's) speciality: using colour in a way that is almost monochrome. I'm sure I can tell you how to turn off the flash if you'll tell me how to employ this subtle and rewarding aspect of photographic atavism. The home page pic is a corker yet undermines your addiction to the word "meanderings" - there's far too much life in this shot. In fact you could say you've photographed the wind.

Thanks people. The running girl in the header picture was just dumb luck, I was only trying to photograph the gull and didn't even notice she'd run into the shot.

R - Pumpkin ale sounds delicious and very hobbitish!

Sheila - you don't have to ask permission to save any pictures here, but I usually shrink them a bit too small for wallpaper, and some of these which I've messeda bout with will probably be very noisy if they are enlarged... let me know and I'll send you any you want by e-mail full-sized.

BB - mm, I did enhance the focal b/w aspect of one or two, but thanks!

Plutarch and GJ - cheers.
