We found this puffball in a field. The wedding ring is to give it scale. It was the smaller of two, the other was larger than a football. I love th bouncy noise they make when you tap them. Lovely sister and I are going to eat it sliced with garlic and bacon.
Still really on furlough from blogging. Meanwhile, enjoy Simon's cat.
I love Simon's cat! I just had a session with one of my own ... first in, then out again, then wanting in again, but then when I open the door she turns her back and walks off!!
I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I had to google "puffball" -- although I did suspect that it was mushroom-like. I hope you enjoy your foraged treat -- and your visit with your sister!
Just back from Diafani so I'm catching up; hence this displaced comment. Unfortunately being liked by the international community (whatever that amorphous entity is) doesn't necessarily help Democratic candidates get elected. It kinda irritates some US voters. It's natural that we (Brits) should respond to Obama but the big question, assuming he becomes president, is: who did he hold hands with to get there? Initially it seemed he might be a step away from the terrifyingly politicised religious right but, alas, he's had to talk to them and, possibly, probably, promise them things.
Hey, I managed a metaphorical link: puffballs and politics! Not that I'm trying to stay on the fence. I'd be voting for him but I'd also be preparing myself for disappointment.

Are bigger puffballs tastier than small ones?
