The patterns made by rivulets of water over sand are some of my favourite things at the seaside. Sometimes they look like
trees, or cloud shapes, or even twisted bits of cloth, but often they remind me of anatomical drawings, or the limbs of the figures in some of William Blake's paintings.
Thews, I think they're called...
Thews, indeed. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favourites too, and now a new word for them....thews, yes!
ReplyDeleteI learned a new word today..thews..and your pic made them really look artistic!
ReplyDeleteI am enthused by these views of thews!
ReplyDeleteI love to learn new words. And for something so lovely.
ReplyDeleteVery cool.
ReplyDeleteThank you SO MUCH for giving me a name for these.
ReplyDeletethey are so reminiscent of Blake it's uncanny...
ReplyDeletevery beautiful, and a new word to me too!
ReplyDeleteOdd how some of those abstract shapes form themselves into expressions, sometimes animal sometimes, human. Photo number 2 is overwhelming and quite scary.
ReplyDeleteDo they ever come separated from sinews? Perhaps a pronunciation of that word by someone with a very bad lisp.
ReplyDeleteLike others I didn't know about this use of the word thews. And the photos are amazing - they look like a mix of photography, paints and drawing.
