Time out

I learned this morning that my beautiful and beloved sister Alison Turner died suddenly today, at the age of 57, in New Zealand, where she lived.

I can't really do this in words just now.  Using the past tense is more than I can cope with.  So I'll be away for a bit.  Thanks.

  1. What a lovely photograph. So sorry. I know from personal experience how devastating it is to be suddenly told of the death of a sibling. I feel for you deeply and my thoughts will be with you.

  2. Yes, it is a lovely photograph.

I am so very sorry, Lucy. I can't even begin to imagine how this must feel. I am thinking of you and will try to send some strength since I do actually have some to spare at the moment.

Big hugs from us all here xxx

  8. There's an unearthly resemblance with a casually included photo that appeared in the Breton wedding series in mid 2008 - causing a double heart-stop. A cruel loss. At fifty-seven life should be close to its peak which means the sense of loss must be all the sharper. Write a poem, but later. Sorry, Lucy.

  13. My thoughts go with you Lucy. I guess most of us expect to see our parents die, but the loss of a sibling bites too close to the bone for comfort, as brothers and sisters are so caught up in our own senses of mortality. Go gently and look after yourself. Come to terms with the loss by stages. Try to take comfort in the arrival of Spring. We're all here so briefly. As every year passes I tell myself that each moment must count. Fifty-seven is too young to die. Alison has a lovely smile in that photograph.

  26. Dear Lucy,
This is deeply sad and so hard a thing to bare, when your sister so beautiful and so alive has died. So think of her with love wherever she is in the universe.
