The other morning...

...just a couple of days ago.  Sat where I am now, I looked aside through the back doors and saw the sky like this.  I might have missed it, it was there for just a couple of minutes, no more.

If I hadn't gone outside I wouldn't have heard the thrushes either.  They sing all the time now, as if amazed they've come through.  Perhaps they are.

The night before, we'd gone outside to look at the glowing tangerine dot that was Mars - 'Follow the side of the Plough nearest the handle,' says Tom, 'straight down to the bright star in Leo, that's Regulus, then take a sharp right'.  An owl called, perhaps to say she was the baker's daughter.

'Oh look at the fire-folk sitting in the air!'

The sky and its people - birds and stars.  There is not a comfortable thing about them, only beauty, and in this, they offer comfort.

  3. Beautiful.

I love the sky. You get a whole range of moods and ambiences with what seem like imperceptable alterations in light.

I'll sometimes lie down and look out of a window for hours to watch those changes.

  4. what an amazingly beautiful sky. I've heard song thrushes recently singing close to our flat, very unusual, we get blackbirds and dunnocks and the occasional robin so I'm intrigued (and delighted) by the song thrush

  5. Gerard - mover of words. I've always imagined him as an active man. And perhaps that is how one offers comfort, by not letting beauty become cold.

  6. Thank you for all you show us.

When I came over from Motel Zero, I had no idea I would still be delighting over a year after.

  8. Lovely colors.

We have put out the birdseed, in hopes. So far, only a couple, but you never know.

  12. Incredible colours. This post makes me a little anxious at the thought of all the things I might be missing at any given moment. But a little comforted too by knowing there are people like you, keeping an eye to spot them when I let my guard down.
