Halfway down this sequence you have part of a tree outlined against one of those water-towers that so enrich the French landscape. If ever cropping needed justification (and I'm astonished to find that some people regard it as almost a moral issue) this mysterious shot does just that and re-establishes you as the photographic poet of industrial landscapes. As I've said before I delight in your lichen-covered rocks, etc, but what really impresses me is your ability to transmute the unpleasant outlines of workshops and office blocks into pure gold.
So I asked of you this gift, that you would crop me like a photograph that the stripes across my raw red back turn into breathless new found art and for one moment I am unbound and free of the price paid for life.
You have about convinced me that there is reason to save photographs in zillion-pixel formats so that some day one might crop in on a fascinating detail as Lucy did.
Your analysis of deferred gratification appealed to me,as a former deferred gratifyer become much more inclined in recent years to instant gratification. Living in the present is ever more attractive. Brownie points, meanwhile, are for whimps if not for Brownies.
