Three garden haiku

Small gold earth dragon
spreads tiny foetal hands, curves
back into its cave.

Calyces uphold
arachnid architecture,
aphid entrapment.

Opiate seedhead,
past pink sugar glory now
hangs brown as kippers.

    There he is!

Such glorious photos! And such a lush time of year. I hope you're getting all of the salubrious rain and (relatively) low temps that we've had all spring.

  6. Lucy, everyone else has said every thing I feel viewing your art and poetry...and done a better job than I could.

(I feel special delight with the earth dragon!)

  7. I love the tiny foetal hands . . .
but the contrast between "pink sugar glory" and "brown as kippers" rings wonderfully true. You have such an original way of expressing the ordinary.
