  7. Well, 7.30 next morning and I'm still here.
This rather gives the impression that not only the internet but electricity supplies are down too, reminds me of the Heath years and the miners' strikes, benighted evenings scrapping diconsolately with my brother by firelight, making candles out of Edam cheeses rinds and gazing forlornly at a dead TV on which no Nationwide nor Tomorrow's World nor Owen MD could be seen...
Tom in not quite such a nethead as I am, which is just as well or we'd be scrapping more often too, over the computer. He also is somewhat of a lightweight in the candle-fiddling league, and doesn't stick his fingers on the wax, since it would burn his dainty digits and he's a bit of a wuss like that. Not for him the pleasure of peeling it off and seeing a perfect cast of one's finger prints. Funny really, as he can gulp down tea at about 1000 degrees c. and not suffer.

haha - I love the photo.

How awful though to be internet-less. I wouldn't survive, I'd have to go out to an internet cafe to get a quick fix.

  10. I'm glad you still seem to be up and running, for a while at least. I wonder why it is that, when all other forms of entertainment disappear, flames are endlessly fascinating?

  12. Thanks again. all seems to be back to normal now.
Tom is in fact rather disappointed in this candle which is very efficient burner and cannot be persuaded to run or dribble or burn unevenly!

  13. I looked hard & long. Aside from Tom's pensive gaze, I noted it appears he has a black thumbnail? Is this a mere illusion for did he mis caluculate??
I am, after all a nosey cow...

  15. Meggie, no he thought he ahd a black thumbnail too, but it's the match head he's playing with! I wasn't in fact gone for very long at all in the end, but thought I was going to be out for the long haul so issued a general apology for absence.
Rob - thanks, seems OK for the moment...

  16. Better than watching paint dry, I suppose.
I seem to remember that there is a meditation technique involved with staring into a candle flame. Did he find enlightenment, I wonder?
