Droop

Apologies, if anyone's in fact noticed, for the relative quiescence on the blogging front, in reading and commenting and otherwise engaging. We seem to have fallen foul of something rather 'flu-like, which I can push to one side for periods of time to do necessary things, but can't altogether seem to find my way through.

No matter, it is the Easter break now, and I am relatively free of obligations. And, as I often find with illness which is temporary and not severe, I have that feeling that there is something rather marvellous, peeled and tender and shining, waiting just on the other side of it, if only I could get there.

I did resolve to swear off daffodils this spring, with the fear of seasonal repetition and triteness that stalks this medium; but have broken with that resolve for a second time.

Molly is a very conscientious nurse, watching us with concern and draping or curling herself over and about the feet, legs or torso of whichever of us appears to be the most afflicted. In her own current state of lively health, she is rather missing out on her walks, though she usually gets something.

I am consuming as much ginger in whatever form possible (the French have a lamentable shortage of this in their general diet and range of available foodstuffs, so Whisky Mac and crystallised ginger in syrup rather have to be reserved for medicinal purposes, every cloud...) and have gulped down and finished reading 'Possession' for the second time, which was also delicious. I have now taken the rare step of bringing the computer - strictly speaking a laptop but a heavy and unwieldy one which doesn't take kindly to running on battery power, over to the sofa, so I'll try to get around some blogs now, and to posting something more constructive over the next day or so...

my dear hope you are better soon and we can fit in a walkies or an invalid dinner...
Whisky macs sound great, almost worth being ill.

I often worry about seasonal repetition but tell myself that the seasons repeat themselves, so why shouldn't I.

It may be repetition, but it's a lovely iteration. I hope you both feel better soon!

'...peeled and tender and shining...'As Oscar W. said, 'I wish I'd written that!'

Ginger is so good for what ails you and how wonderful to find another whisky mac lover.

That Molly is a wise hound. GWS Lucy.

What a lovely way of putting it. Yes, I think I know what you mean.

Bless Molly's little paws.

Hope you feel a hundred and ten percent soon.

That is a fine daffodil photo. I never tire of these flowers. "Le narcise a deux visages..." Behind and in front, denying the wind...
Hope you feel fully recovered now or soon from the flu-like virus.

I am so sorry to visit and find you feeling poorly. I do highly recommend ginger. Ginger, and sleep!

I just love the photo of Molly! I think Edward has a crush.
