Why descry
the sad- and sameness of the barley when,
bewildered in encounters with the wind,
it confesses its longings?
Pollen-drizzled perfumed heads and horms
drift, watered-silk-green sheening sunlight
makes the land luminous, runs and flows
to nowhere.
Meets the sky.
*sigh*

Ha! I was just at yours at the same moment!
ReplyDeleteLovely! And I just received your comment as I'm reading this!
ReplyDeleteGrasses in motion are a first cousin to the sea or the river. While your pictures and the verse are lovely, didn't you long for a motion picture camera to catch an endless loop of the flow?
ReplyDeleteSudden intake of breath! Herds of caterpillars rushing to the butterfly tree.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos - and the words aren't too shabby, either.
ReplyDelete(smile)
ReplyDeleteThe texture of the grass is so beautiful! Somehow it looks like the wind has taken up its brush and painted the grass against the sky. I love the color pallete too.
ReplyDeleteNice. Like the juxtaposition of the accompanying photos as well. Nothing like a posting with perfect illustration!
ReplyDelete"ditto" what Julie said.
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful way with words. I love the grain fields in the late summer...they smeel wonderful, too.
Blessings, EJT
Fields of Gold.
ReplyDeleteWonderful.
A lovely pairing of pics and poem. Excellent.
ReplyDeletehip hip hooray !
ReplyDeleteagain !
I really loved the poem. The image complemented it perfectly, but the words were exactly right, and alittle bit more than that, the indefinable bit that makes a poem magical.
ReplyDeleteSigh.
ReplyDeleteLovely! The pictures are so soothing to the eyes and the poetry so calming and reassuring....I can almost feel the breeze and warmth of your sunshine touch the base of my neck...
ReplyDeletelovely...
Thanks so much to all, your words encourage me.
ReplyDeleteI'm sighing, too, at the sheer exquisiteness of word and image. Lucy, is it too late for me to submit a watery painting? I'm sorry I didn't respond earlier. Life has been moving at a rapid clip around here.
ReplyDeleteDear Lucy, i'm about to say something that one should never say, i'm sure, but i can't help myself:
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite post of yours to date!
(And i have loads of faves!)
Love that barley shot. It is 'liquid' motion.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pairing.
ReplyDeleteTHankyou, Lucy.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is lovely to come back to...
Fabulous words/pictures..
Back from Spain, I see the texture of the grass in the photos as an extra welcome back to a different world. And the accompanying words too.
ReplyDeleteI know it's barley but as I looked at it, it looked like long prairie grass.
ReplyDeleteThanks again, welcome and welcome back!
